Cookie policy
Last reviewed 26 September 2026
Cookies are small pieces of data a site stores in your browser. Smile Cast uses as few as it can, and the ones it sets are listed here — this is the full list, not a sample.
Cookies this site sets
| Name | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
smilecast_session |
Keeps you signed in and carries security tokens (including the CSRF token) between pages. Without it sign-in cannot work. | Strictly necessary |
smilecast_remember |
Only set if you tick "keep me signed in on this device", so you stay signed in after the session ends. Deleting it signs you out everywhere that used it. | Strictly necessary (opt-in) |
sc_theme |
Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme, so the page does not flash the wrong colours on the next visit. | Preference |
Cookies set by optional third parties
These only appear when the corresponding feature is switched on by the operator.
| Provider | When | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google reCAPTCHA | On sign-in and sign-up, when reCAPTCHA is enabled | Sets cookies such as _GRECAPTCHA to distinguish people from automated
traffic. Google's own cookie and privacy terms apply. |
| Google (OAuth) | Only while you use "Sign in with Google" | Cookies on Google's own pages during the consent step. They are Google's, not ours, and only apply to that flow. |
What we do not use
There are no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics or tracking pixels, and no cookies used to profile you across other sites. If that ever changes, this page and your consent options will change with it.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies means you will not be able to sign in or stay signed in; the rest of the public site still works. Because the third-party cookies above are set only for security and sign-in, there is nothing else to opt out of.
